Key Considerations When Selecting a Generator for Commercial Facilities
Essential loads, starting kVA, fuel, ventilation and changeover — the checklist behind a standby set.

Commercial generators are sized from the essential-load list, not from the incoming utility rating. HVAC plant, lifts, fire pumps and lighting do not all belong on standby unless the client has decided they do. That list should be written before kVA is discussed.
Starting current, especially for motors and some UPS inputs, can exceed running load. Room design — combustion air, radiator discharge, exhaust route and acoustic treatment — often constrains the machine more than the electrical calculation.
Fuel autonomy, tank location and fill access are operational facts. ATS position, earthing and the UPS sequence belong in the same drawing set. A generator that cannot start because of a closed damper is not a standby system.
ASIF supplies Perkins and Cummins generator families and coordinates them with UPS and electrical distribution when both are in scope. The quotation should state duty (standby versus prime), essential loads and room interfaces.
